Hello Band Family:
WHAT IS TAG DAY?
This fundraising event is simple, band students go door-to-door throughout the Legacy High School Communities and simply ask for tax-deductible donations. We give everyone a TAG which contains information about the band and our performances. Many other band programs throughout the state do this fundraiser within their own communities, including Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, CO & Monarch High School in Louisville, CO.
WHEN IS TAG DAY?
The first Legacy Band Tag Day will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM. We need full participation from all band families to make this event a success, please keep this date open.
WHAT HAPPENS ON TAG DAY?
- Students will report to Legacy by 8:30 on Saturday to get into uniform.
- Students will be in teams of four (4) with one (1) chaperone driver.
- At 9:00 we will meet in the theatre to go over details, and expectations, and distribute the “TAGs” as well as money collectors (Milk Cartons). Students will also have a QR Code for donations to be made via PayPal.
- Each team will be given a map of an assigned neighborhood within the Legacy HS feeder zone.
- Students will wear either band uniforms or polos and khakis (TBD) and should have a water bottle with them.
- Chaperones will drive their team of students to the assigned neighborhood.
- Students will walk door to door in pairs (never alone) with chaperones keeping all four students within line of sight.
- Students will be given a script for their door-to-door communications when asking for donations.
- Once a neighborhood is complete, teams will report back to Legacy to turn in money and will be sent to another neighborhood.
- All teams will report back to Legacy by 12:30 PM.
WE NEED YOU!!!
We need a number of volunteers to make this fundraiser a success. We are in need of the following number of volunteers for each job:
- Four (4) Check-In Volunteers: These volunteers will be responsible for providing each team with their assigned neighborhood map, their money collection milk jug, and their “Tags.” These volunteers will stay at Legacy from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM to assist teams that finish early and need another neighborhood.
- Two (2) Money Counters: These volunteers will be responsible for opening each money collection jug and counting/sorting all of the donations. These volunteers will need to be at Legacy from 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM. They will be assisted by Mr. Tafoya & Dr. Ebert to ensure the safe storage of all donations.
- Forty (40) Drivers: These volunteer chaperones are responsible for driving their team of four (4) students to their assigned neighborhoods. This is the most crucial volunteer position because you help get our students out into the community. Drivers will need to complete a “Volunteer Agreement,” a “Raptor Background Check,” and a “Use of Personal Vehicle Form” all through Adams 12. These documents will be sent to each volunteer after they sign-up.
***We will ask every volunteer if they currently live in an HOA. We would like to contact each HOA so that they can let their residents know that we will be in the neighborhood.

WHY ARE WE DOING TAG DAY?
TAG Day is an opportunity for our students to get into the community and put a face and a voice to our band. It is also an opportunity for our community members to show their support. We would assume that many of the homes we will visit will be the home of alumni families or families who may be joining the band in a couple of years. With other schools that have done this fundraiser, they have been able to raise anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. There are over 20,000 homes in Broomfield alone, imagine if each home could donate just $1.00. All donations will go directly to the band program and will support each student’s music education.
