Marching Instructors

Receiving the Fiske Scholarship, she studied with Terry Smith and Doug Walter at the University of Colorado Boulder and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business from the University of Colorado Denver.

After graduating, she became the Associate Concert Director for Swallow Hill Music Association, producing concerts and managing events. Next in her career, she joined her family’s recording business, all while teaching percussion at local high schools.

Kathy has been a percussion instructor/clinician at numerous high schools in Colorado. She was the Front Ensemble Caption Head for internationally acclaimed Northglenn High School (Percussion Theatre) for 21 years. In that time, Northglenn earned 19 state titles; WGI Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals; and WGI Fans’ Favorite awards in 2010 and 2015.

She is currently Percussion Director at Lakewood and Legacy High Schools.

Along with her high school teaching, Kathy has an active private lesson percussion studio.

In 2010, Kathy was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association Hall of Fame.

She also enjoys working with her husband, Dave, on coordinating the Denver Broncos Stampede, the first official NFL drumline (2003).

Along with the Stampede, Kathy and Dave produce several high-profile percussion groups for their company, Party Crashers, LLC. Their group Beauty and the Beats is America’s first professional, all-female drumline.

Kathy is a proud clinician/marching artist for Yamaha Musical Instruments, Vic Firth, and Zildjian.

Growing up in Colorado, Ian played trumpet in the Legacy High School marching band and spent his junior year marching lead trumpet with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, Colorado. He is currently marching with the 21x world champion Blue Devils Drum and Bugle corps from Concord, California. He began teaching at Legacy in 2025 and plans to continue growing the program to a national level. Outside of the marching arts, Ian is a real estate agent/advisor and co-founder of Performance Real Estate. His hobbies include weightlifting, traveling, and hiking. Additionally, Ian teaches at feeder middle schools such as Westlake to help raise the next generation of Colorado musicians.

At age 11, he began marching, and now teaches, writes, designs, presents clinics, and judges nationwide.

Dave is a proud member of the Hall Of Fame for WGI, Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association.

He is Director and Arranger for the Denver Broncos Stampede, the first official drumline of the NFL. Since 2003, the group has evolved into a powerhouse 30 piece brass/percussion band, integral to game day entertainment, as well as  private functions.

Dave has written, arranged and taught for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, United States Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps, the University of Colorado Marching Band, and Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps.

Dave is a clinician/artist for Yamaha Musical Instruments, Zildjian/Vic Firth, and Evans Drumheads.

JA is recognized as one of 15 “Exemplary Middle School Band Programs” across Colorado (’25/26) and has consistently earned Superior ratings at festivals across the state. His biggest passion is providing students of all ages the “high level band experience,” and he truly believes all students are capable of making high quality music while performing modern, relevant repertoire. Hollis holds degrees from the University of Arkansas and the University of Colorado Boulder.

She has a passion for creating an environment for students that promotes growth and a positive culture.

After graduating from high school in 2021, Jaylen competed independently with several world class organizations, most notably the Boston Crusaders and Pride of Cincinnati. Her age out season of drum corps she had the opportunity to not only compete with the Boston Crusaders but also be a captain of their color guard.

Jaylen is a 2 time George Zingalli recipient, 2 time DCI silver Medalist, WGI bronze medalist, and as of 2025 a WGI gold medalist.

In addition to Jaylen’s competitive marching career, she has been teaching, directing, and choreographing for color guards in Colorado since 2022. She has a passion for teaching and strives to be a positive example and role model for the next generation of color guard students.

He has held the titles of performer, technician, choreographer, designer, director, clinician, caption head, and adjudicator. He began judging Colorado winter guards in 2015 and has since expanded to other activities and states. Jeff is passionate about teaching and mentoring young students and instructors; especially helping students continue their involvement in the marching arts after high school through opportunities such as drum corps, instruction, and independent winter guard.
