2024 CBA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS SCHEDULE

5:45 PM Arrive at Legacy
6:00 PM Begin loading; double check all props and all instruments (including sousas) have been
loaded; load sound cart in such a way that it is easily retrieved on Saturday morning.
6:45 PM Depart for Air Force Academy/park overnight (don’t forget the overnight pass).
Since the semi is arriving after 6:00 PM, it will need to be parked in Lot 5A. Truck can
move to Lot 5 in the morning to unload the sound cart.
Need to unload the sound cart first thing in the morning (by 7:30 AM) on October 26th
so that wireless equipment can be checked before semifinals begin (first band is on at
8:30 AM, so test wireless equipment in the stadium between 7:45 AM and 8:15 AM).

6:00 AM Report
6:05 AM Stretch/Set up retreat block if not done yet; remember it’s a single file entry
6:20 AM Chaperone Meeting
● Talk about schedule
● We need to pack tools, emergency kits, water, extra uniform parts, etc.
● Need to double check we have all props, fabric, fire props, sandbags, etc.
6:25 AM Grab garment bags and instruments/section leaders double-check that students have everything they need for the day, including show shirts!
6:30 AM Buses arrive
6:35 AM Load Buses and take attendance
● Ask students about their instruments and accessories
● Ask students to make sure they have all pieces of their uniforms, including show shirts
● Check to see that all students have BLACK SOCKS and GLOVES
6:45 AM Depart for AIR FORCE ACADEMY/FALCON STADIUM
● Please take attendance and I will come around and check to see if we have everyone.
● As we get close to the Stadium, please tell the students to begin getting dressed.
● Make sure we have water, repair kit, bus signs posted, Rain Ponchos
● Please do not allow students to play any videos or music out loud on the way to the stadium.
8:45 AM Arrive at AIR FORCE ACADEMY/FALCON STADIUM
● Check In – Dr. Ebert will check the band in and scout out the route to the warm-up site and stadium.
● CBA representatives will board the bus and stamp all the students and the bus driver (truck driver will not get a stamp).
● Please keep the students on the bus and make sure they are getting dressed and taking care of their earrings/jewelry, hair, and uniforms…please check for white socks and jeans again!!!!
● If we arrive early there may be time to take the band in to see one performance in order to get a feel for the stadium.
9:00 AM After buses and trucks are parked, the Drum Line and Color Guard should go unload
● Percussion will need to move quickly in order to make the 9:50 AM warm up start
● Band gets in uniform
● We need to let students use the restrooms at this time.
9:15 AM Unload remaining students from the buses
9:25 AM Percussion moves to Warm Up at Site D/Rest of the band stretches
9:50 AM Percussion Warm Up at Site D (we may not use the entire time); Depart to prestage at
10:50 AM at the latest
10:00 AM Move to Body Warm Up at Site B
10:10 AM Body Warm Up at Site B/Color Guard at Site D
10:40 AM Move to the Music Warm Up Site B
10:45 AM Music Warm Up Begins at Site B
11:15 AM Depart Music Warm Up Area
● Students who are helping get props through the tunnel should be en route to the stadium.
● As we get lined up, Chaperones, please have a towel to wipe down the student’s shoes (as long as we are not going to walk through more dust on the way to the stadium – if we are, we will need to do this before we enter the stadium).
11:25 AM Arrive at the Pre-stage point at the North part of the Stadium
11:30 AM State Semi-Final Performance
11:45 AM Move outside to take the band picture
● Please have adults move the pit equipment back at this time
● Results happen between 11:45 AM and 12:00 PM
● Move back to the north side of the stadium to listen to results, if possible
12:00 PM Everyone moves back to the buses to load for lunch.
● Pit crew and parents will need to go back to the truck to load all pit equipment
● We will need to give them some water at this point.
12:30 PM Load buses/take attendance
12:45 PM Depart for Lunch at The Academy Hotel
1:00 PM Arrive for lunch at The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs, 8110 N Academy

2:00 PM During or after lunch…
● Dr. Ebert, Mr. Tafoya, and Staff will meet in a designated staff room to watch the performance and listen to Judges’ Comments.
● The whole band OR parts of the band will move into a specific room to watch the video and discuss what we can do better for Finals either before, after, or during the lunch break.
● Please watch over the students and make sure they are not messing around and that they all have something to eat. Students need to HYDRATE!
3-4:00 PM Load buses/take attendance/depart back to AIR FORCE ACADEMY/FALCON STADIUM
______ PM Arrive back at AIR FORCE ACADEMY/FALCON STADIUM
● Check In – Dr. Ebert will check the band in and scout the route to the warm-up site if it is different than before.
● CBA representatives will board the bus and stamp all the students and the bus driver (truck driver will not get a stamp).
● Please keep the students on the bus and make sure they are getting dressed and taking care of their earrings, hair, and uniforms…black socks!!!!
5:15 PM 5A Finals Competition Begins (1st Warm Up starts at 3:35PM)

9:15 PM Line up for FULL BAND RETREAT
9:30 PM Finals FULL BAND RETREAT
10:45 PM Depart for Legacy High School
12:30 AM Return to Legacy High School – This is a tentative time
