- Vibes Hearing Protection. Now is the time to order quality hearing protection at a discounted rate. Please read below….
Vibes Hi-Fidelity Earplugs (seen on TV’s Shark Tank) are discreet, reusable earplugs designed for musicians – instead of blocking and muffling sound like traditional foam earplugs, Vibes reduce the volume of loud live music to a safer and more comfortable level that prevents permanent hearing damage, while still allowing you to hear yourself and the rest of the ensemble play clearly.
Each pair of Vibes also includes:
Three sizes of interchangeable eartips to ensure a proper fit for any sized ear, an attachable cord that allow the earplugs to be hung around the neck and prevents them from getting lost, a pocket-sized carrying case w/ keyring attachment.
Vibes are trusted by over 500 of the country’s top high school and college band programs (including schools like U of Texas, U of Alabama, U of Arizona, and Colorado State), professional orchestras, military bands, WGI percussion ensembles, and DCI drum corps.
Legacy HS students and their families are eligible to purchase Vibes Hi-Fidelity Earplugs at the price of $16.95/pair, discounted from the standard price of $34.95/pair. All orders must be placed by end of day on August 30. The earplugs will be distributed by staff to the students who place orders/have orders placed for them.

- 9/14 Presentation Understanding Judging If you have ever wondered how groups get the scores they get, what the scores mean or what the process of judging marching band, indoor percussion, color guard looks like, then come to this presentation to learn more about judging as it relates to pageantry arts. Presented by Chuck Stephen.
- Saturday 8/22 Absences
- Ten percent of the band was missing from rehearsal today. We are learning new choreography, reteaching drill spots, and putting parts 1 and 2 to music. Most of the absences are health related. While we know these issues are somewhat unavoidable, it will help us in the long run if you have a discussion with your students about hygiene and personal space so that we can keep the band healthy. Absences affect the entire band, and given the fact that our first performance is less than a week away, it is critical that all members be present. If a student misses a rehearsal, it is up to them to get the information they missed from their section leader, and then find time to work with sectional leaders before the next practice to learn what they have missed so that the entire band doesn’t have to wait for them to get caught up.
FOOD TEAM:
Our first practice lunch was well received today, thank you to all the parents who helped make sandwiches and serve Dole Whip! We will be serving pizza before the football game on Friday and burgers for lunch on Saturday. If you have a Blackstone or grill you would be willing to bring to school on Saturday morning, we’d love to hear from you. Please email or visit Food Committee : Meal Plan Volunteers to help serve this week.
Free Smoothie Bowls:
We have an exciting opportunity from a new local business who also happens to be a new Legacy Band sponsor! Playa Bowl is a new smoothie bowl place at 144th and Huron. On Monday 8/24 from 4 to 8, they are giving free smoothie bowls to Legacy Band students, and it is a challenge between Legacy, Mountain Range, Holy Family and Stargate. The school who has the most students get free bowls will win and end of season party. We are working WITH the LEGACY football and softball teams, GO Legacy!
We hope to see you at Playa Bowl on Monday!!
Dine to Donate:
Our next Dine to Donate is at Old Santa Fe at McCaslin Blvd and Dillon Rd in Louisville on September 16th from 4-10. We are getting 20%, so please join us and help raise money for this year’s show and trip!
COME JOIN HAPPY HOUR!!
New Parent Happy Hour! Come meet other guard and band parents while your kids are at practice. August 27th, 5:30pm-7pm at Frolic Brewing. Not-new parents who would like to meet new parents are very much welcome!

Two things I wish I would’ve said at the Monday meeting! I get nervous under the lights!
#1 – Jeff Jasica has put his heart and soul into running the Festival for us for 16 years. His kids graduated from the Legacy program 14 or so years ago, and he continues to donate to us a ton of his time and expertise each year. We could not do it without him, and this festival brings the marching program so much -both materially and non-materially. You volunteering at the festival is like giving Mr Jasica and each other a big warm thank you.
#2 – We receive amazing feedback about our outstanding volunteers year after year. It is the secret sauce that makes bands and spectators keep coming back. Thank you so much for continuing to help our guests have a great experience! Our volunteers are the best!
ACTION REQUIRED:
Call for Chaperones for Legacy Marching Festival! Signing up as a chaperone fulfills all of your shift requirements for the event!
Don’t miss the chance to make lasting memories with your student and the entire band community!
