Good evening, band family!
First, we’d like to thank everyone who volunteered for our first annual car show! We hope everyone who attended the car show enjoyed it!
FROM DR. EBERT:
Band camp starts at 8AM tomorrow!
Bring lots of water, sunscreen, hats, correct clothing and footwear.
Leadership Team should bring section tents and extra water.
We will spend time indoors, but we need to be outside too.
1pm dismissal, parents expect students closer to 1:30.
Freshman Fundamentals
Band camp starts this week! Yay! Some suggestions –
- Water, water, water – use electrolytes in some of that water!
- Think about ways to stay cool – Lightweight, light colored clothing, hat, cooling towel, neck fan
- Comfortable, supportive shoes – no flip-flops, no Converse, no Crocs
- Sunscreen! Apply before leaving the house and again during a break. It is unpleasant to get a sunburn on Day 1 and then have to get through Day 2 and 3!
- Eat a healthy breakfast and bring a snack!
- Introduce yourself to people you don’t know and have fun!
!!! Updated/edited with link to new/updated care instructions !!!
Uniform Return – AJR participants only
Everyone who performed at AJR and took your uniform home, please return it cleaned and pressed prior to band camp tomorrow, July 13th. If you are not going to be at the earlier July band camp, you will need to bring your uniform back on July 27th. These should be machine washed, cold water, gentle cycle and hung to dry. Cool iron on a synthetic setting if needed. Uniform Cleaning Instructions

From corporate fundraising:
As you are getting your back-to-school details and appointments taken care of this next few weeks, remember to ask local businesses to sponsor Legacy Bands. Email sponsors@legacybands.org or visit

Argus/Aramark Updates:
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked the Ed Sheeran concert on July 4th! I thought it was a blast!
Don’t forget, the funds from these events go directly to your individual student’s account, so it really is a fun way to meet the FRG and have funds to put towards the Indiana trip!
If you have recently signed up for our upcoming events or have recently decided you would like to participate, please make sure you have filled out the Argus application form, given permission for the background check and watched the training video. If you have not done these items or do not have the information, please let me know and I can get you the links for those things. This paperwork must be completed to work any event.
I am including the Sign Up genius link here for anyone who might be interested in signing up that has not yet done so. We have concerts and games coming up that we need people to work to meet our 10 person per event quota. Please take a look at the schedule…ACDC is on July 28th just for one example, rock on! For you country fans, Zach Bryan is coming up in August for two nights!
Thank you and, as always Sko Boltz!

Legacy Festival – September 26th at Five Star Stadium
40% of Festival jobs have been filled so far! Thank you so much! You are all amazing and will make this day very special. Please sign up at the link below to help fill the remaining 166 jobs!
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0D4CA9AF2DAAFE3-64175082-marching#
Job Spotlights: Light Tower Pullers!
We need 3 more people that have a 2” ball hitch that could transport a light tower to Five Star Stadium the night before the event and return them to/from Sun Belt Rentals afterwards.
Water Runners! We need two people that have the strength and stamina to refill and transport 5 gallon water jugs from the concession stand sink and ice machine to the water table 100 yards away. A wagon or cart makes this easier (if you don’t have one, I will find you one). This is a very important job in keeping the kids well hydrated during a potentially hot day!
Festival Chairs Needed: Commitment for these roles includes presence all day at Festival, some planning meetings ahead of the event, and volunteer training at the training meeting. Logistics and documents are already developed. Freshman parents are welcome! No experience necessary. We will train you. Please email FestivalHelp@legacybands.org if you would like to learn more!
Ambassador Chair – this could be one person or a team if you’d like to do this with a friend or partner. This person(s) is organized, can multitask, and is comfortable leading/directing others. This is a key role in an effective day of operations as the volunteers guide each band and director.
Parking Co-Chair – seeking an additional person or people to join the already established parking team.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Have a great week!!
